Hello, my name is Miho Seike.

My research focuses on evacuation experiments, fire simulations, and fire experiments conducted in large-scale enclosed spaces under fire scenarios. With a background in mechanical and fluid engineering, I have recently been applying analyses of human behavior itself and physical simulations to problem areas where such approaches have not been widely used before. This work lies within a relatively new interdisciplinary research field.

In the Enclosed Spatial Engineering Laboratory, we study evacuation behavior during fires in enclosed spaces by integratively examining human actions, psychological states, and physiological responses together with physical phenomena such as smoke and heat. By combining fire experiments based on similarity laws, full-scale evacuation experiments, measurements using various sensors, and CFD simulations, we aim to reproduce real-world phenomena as faithfully as possible and contribute to the advancement of "Engineering".

Our research is primarily experiment-oriented, requiring both physical effort and analytical skills in mathematics and physics. Through hands-on experimentation, we value the cultivation of engineers and researchers who are capable of observing phenomena directly, thinking critically, and making sound judgments in real-world settings. We also actively promote international collaboration and presentations at international conferences.

Research content and education policy

Target Evacuation behavior for risk assessment in smoke, quantitative fire safety assessment(micro to macro), firefighters risk assessment.
Education policy To solve and improve the problem, we need to conduct the experiment for your experience. You can learn the step and strategy of the new issues from experiments.
Research I successfully get the grant from JST and JSPS-Kakenhi, and I collaborate with Domestic and International universities.
